Let their be curtains!
After a great deal of work, I now have curtains in my apartment. The reason that it was a great deal of work is that I made them.
Here is the curtains I made for the window in the dining area. It matches the curtains for the main area:
And here are the curtains for my bedroom:
In both cases, they serve the dual purpose of looking nicer than bare windows and also keeping the heat in. The windows in this apartment, though double-pained, leak a lot of heat (especially since they don't even close perfectly). The curtains in the main area are both two layers of denim, white on back and indigo on front. The curtains in my room are blue felt on back and blue canvas on front. My bedroom window leaks quite a lot of heat (when the wind rushes outside, it blows inside a little bit), so I didn't want to take any chances with the insulation. Besides, I really liked the color.
